Many thanks to Matt and Danny who spotted the above virus attacks on this site. I have now cleaned-up and everything should be functioning as normal – if not – please tell me asap!

Ok, I thought I should add a word or too – particularly to all you Russians hitting the site – who have obviously visited here hopeful of finding a solution to the virus.

The virus was installed on my site care of a security flaw in WordPress 2.8 (this has been fixed in newer versions), known as the ‘permalink backdoor’. (See Lorelle on WordPress)

The flaw enabled someone to register themselves as an administrator of my site and then alter the theme header to include some bogus javascript code that contained the trojan virus (which downloads a load of unwanted garbage onto your local machine).

I was able to fix this by:
    1. deleting the bogus administrator account
    2. reinstalling my theme
3.upgrading to the latest version of WordPress and
    4. (for good measure) installing the anti-virus plug-in by Sergej Müller.

So there you are – you may thank me if you found this information useful.
