An Englishman in Strasbourg was created by Howard Hulley shortly after he and his family decided to emigrate to France. Although a budding commentator and journalist, Howard’s first passion is writing for stage and screen:
He wrote, directed and produced a film shortlisted for, and screened at, the BBC London British Short Film Festival; has worked as a regular writer for The Sitcom Trials comedy group, winning the audience vote for all but one of his scripts; his play Mister London, about the 2005 London bombings, was shortlisted for the Marriot New Drama Writing Award at the Windsor Fringe arts festival; his comic adaptation of the Pied Piper of Hamelin, written for the children of Woodcote House School, was recently performed at Baobab College in Zambia; and he won the Alsace ESC Limerick Grand Prix in 2009.
He is currently writing a book about his ongoing relationship with France, as well as occasional articles for Aussie soccer fanzine Goal Weekly, and resides with his wife and two sons in Strasbourg, France.
